Photo of the Week

This 1936 Ford Cabriolet received one of two top awards, the Sam Foose Award, presented at the 9th annual Canyon Lake Car Show October 11 at the Lodge. Automotive designer Sam Foose, a Canyon Lake resident, is the father of Chip Foose, considered by many to be the world's top hot-rod designer. Foose Jr.'s Huntington Beach company, Foose Design, modifies collector cars and builds custom cars. Foose credits his ferocious work ethic and passion for cars to his dad, Sam, who ran an auto body shop to pay the bills but spent nights and weekends building hot rods. Photographer Mike Clary was on hand Saturday to shoot the art exhibit known as a car show, and framed the Cabriolet perfectly to capture the beauty of car and community. See more pictures from the show in the article entitled "Sights and Sounds from Car Show Dazzle Crowds."

The tradition spread throughout universities and high schools throughout the United States, ofte …
