Sold-out Lodge crowd cheers on Thompson Square

The Canyon Lake Property Owners Association’s “Concerts at the Lodge” series witnessed a remarkable sold-out show on Saturday featuring the country music duo Thompson Square. The Grammy-nominated and three-time CMA Vocal Duo of the Year awardees captivated the audience with a personal and acoustic performance that resonated throughout the Holiday Bay Room.

The evening kicked off with an impressive 30-minute acoustic set by Kim Johnson, whose powerful vocal style and personal songwriting narratives earned enthusiastic applause. Kim’s stories about her musical journey deeply touched the audience, setting a heartfelt tone for the night.

Orange County’s Kim Johnson takes the stage as the opening act for Thompson Square Saturday and told how she turned to music after the loss of her father and found solace in writing music.

Thompson Square, composed of husband and wife Keifer and Shawna Thompson, continued the theme of intimacy and connection.

Their 80-minute performance included beloved hits such as “I Got You,” “If I Didn’t Have You,” “Glass,” and the crowd favorite, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not?”

The duo’s harmonizing vocals and personal anecdotes about song origins, family life, and their 28-year marriage created a compelling and inclusive atmosphere.

“It was obvious from the very first song why they won Vocal Duo of the Year three times,” Concerts at the Lodge Series Producer Doug Schultz said. “The show was so entertaining with their harmonizing vocals and stories that the entire crowd stayed till the very end.”

Adding a family touch to the evening, Thompson Square brought their 8-year-old son Cooper on stage, further endearing themselves to the community.

“Being a family now, they brought their son Cooper to the show,” Doug said. “That was a real treat for everyone.”

The “Concerts at the Lodge” series continues to bring high-caliber entertainment to Canyon Lake, offering residents memorable evenings filled with music, stories, and community spirit.
