Family Matters Club Etiquette Classes begin this Monday

The Canyon Lake Family Matters Club Etiquette Classes for children aged 5 to 18, starts Monday at the Eastport Building. The class, which runs through Friday, is part of the club’s initiative to teach good manners and social skills to the community’s youth.

Sessions will begin each day at 6:00 p.m. and will feature a variety of interactive and educational activities. These activities are designed to teach children essential social skills, including the use of “Magic Words,” proper greetings, and how to make positive impressions.

The registration fee is $25 for the first child and $20 for each additional sibling, with scholarships available to ensure accessibility for all interested families.

Shawna Bowen, the founder of the club, highlighted the unique teaching approach of the classes.

“Children learn best when their parents aren’t present,” she said. “This setting encourages them to interact more freely and absorb the lessons effectively.”

The week of learning will culminate in a formal graduation ceremony, where students will have the opportunity to demonstrate the etiquette skills they have acquired.

Jeannie Hoonnirun, President of the Family Matters Club, expressed her excitement for the graduation.

“The kids love to show off all the things they learned,” she said. “It builds their confidence and helps cement the lessons in a fun and memorable way.”

Families interested in enrolling their children in these etiquette classes can find more information and register by visiting the Canyon Lake Family Matters Facebook Group Page or by emailing the club at info@familymattersclub.org.
