CL City Fire Department celebrates Fire Service Day with Open House

The Canyon Lake Fire Department is hosting its Annual Open House on May 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Station 1, in conjunction with the nationwide observance of Fire Service Day. This event pays tribute to the bravery and dedication of firefighters who dedicate their lives to the safety of our community.

This year’s Fire Service Day is particularly poignant as it aligns with the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend where the 82 firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2023 are honored and others are remembered who have fallen in previous years.

The Open House promises a range of activities suitable for all ages, including live demonstrations, fire engine tours, and interactive experiences with local safety and emergency response teams.

Attendees can enjoy face painting, balloon art, and complimentary food provided by CLAMS. Collaborating in this community event are the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, American Medical Response (AMR), the Canyon Lake Emergency Preparedness Committee, EVMWD, and the Canyon Lake Firefighters Association.

Children will have the opportunity to try on firefighter gear, explore the fire engines, and meet Sparky the Fire Dog. The event also offers educational materials designed to spark children’s interest in fire safety and provides fire safety tip brochures for all attendees.

Canyon Lake Fire Department Chief Jeff LaTendresse encourages the community to join in.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the crucial roles firefighters play in our community,” Jeff said. “You can interact with the professionals who protect us every day, and gain valuable safety insights.”

The Canyon Lake Fire Department looks forward to welcoming residents to this informative and engaging Open House. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with these local firefighters and learn more about their vital work in Canyon Lake.
