Pickleball Club thrives with monthly social nights

The Canyon Lake Pickleball Club continues to bring the community together with its successful monthly social nights, a tradition that has been ongoing for over six years. Held every third Thursday of the month, these gatherings combine the excitement of pickleball with the warmth of a potluck, drawing members to the courts for an evening of sports and social fun.

This March social saw 39 attendees enjoying games under the lights and savoring the culinary delights prepared by the club’s members.

“This last Thursday we had 39 people come out and enjoy the fun, food, and friends as the sun was setting on the lake nearby,” Steve Libring, Membership Director, said. “It’s been the social staple event that allows new members to meet other club members in a casual setting and get to know each other better.”

The club, boasting 575 members, offers the socials as a welcoming atmosphere for both new and existing members to mingle and forge new friendships.

“We try to remain a social club that enjoys a sport together,” Steve said. “We enjoy more than just playing pickleball – one of which are these potlucks.”

The recent potluck welcomed new members Terry Jarvis and Kim Smith, who contributed a creamy wild rice and chicken casserole and delectable cream-filled brownies, respectively.

“Even if you never ever play a pickleball game – you should consider joining the club just for the great food, fun, and friends that come with membership,” Steve said.

Additionally, the club announced the rescheduling of the Mary Koster Memorial Tournament, which was postponed due to inclement weather. Community members are encouraged to stay informed about the new date and other club activities by following the Canyon Lake Pickleball Forum Facebook page.
