Cancer awareness luminary event at Holiday Harbor

Canyon Lake will host the inaugural Hope Lights the Night Luminary Event, a poignant gathering dedicated to those affected by cancer on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at Holiday Harbor Park. The event is a collaboration between Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center and the Mermaids of Canyon Lake and aims to unite the community in support and remembrance.

Hope Lights the Night is an evening designed to foster a sense of hope and solidarity, as luminaries light up the dusk in a beautiful tribute to cancer survivors, those battling the disease, and to commemorate the lives of those lost. This family-oriented event embodies the community’s shared resilience and offers a serene environment for reflection.

The gathering is open to all and is free of charge, although RSVPs are required for those wishing to participate. It represents a unique opportunity for Canyon Lake residents to stand together, showcasing the courage and support within the community for individuals and families navigating the challenges of cancer.

The evening will feature activities that include the decoration and lighting of luminary lights and bags, a moment of silence to remember loved ones lost to cancer, and a champagne or sparkling cider toast. Live music and a “Wall of Hope” displaying the names of honorees will further enrich the atmosphere of the event.

Additionally, food trucks will be on-site, providing an array of dining options for purchase, adding to the communal experience of the gathering. The culmination of the event will be marked by the lighting of the luminaries at sunset, creating a visual symbol of hope and remembrance.

Participants interested in being part of this moving event will need to register at michellesplace.org/events. Hope Lights the Night promises to be an evening of reflection, unity, and hope, symbolizing the enduring spirit of support that characterizes the Canyon Lake community.
