Nicole, who assumed the role on March 1, 2023, has been recognized for her significant contributions to the community’s well-being and development. During her tenure, Canyon Lake saw several key achievements, including the acquisition of its first fire station, the establishment of the city’s first collective bargaining unit, a notable increase in reserves, and enhanced communication efforts with the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association.

Furthermore, under Nicole’s stewardship, the city implemented policies focusing on community service and financial sustainability.

Mayor Dale Welty expressed the city’s gratitude for Nicole’s service.

“We are sincerely thankful for Ms. Dailey’s dedication, hard work, and service to both the residents and staff of Canyon Lake,” Dale said. “Nicole has exemplified a commendable level of integrity and professionalism. As a dedicated public servant, she has a promising future, and we extend our best wishes for her continued success.”

The decision for Nicole to step down came as a result of evolving priorities within the City Council, which necessitated a new direction for the City Manager’s role and the council’s vision. This alignment has been described in a city press release as a mutual understanding that a change in leadership serves the best interest of all parties involved.

Reflecting on her departure, Nicole shared her thoughts on the transition.

“The City Council’s innovative and forward-thinking approach is admirable, and while I have cherished my role within this vibrant community, it has become apparent that a new alignment is needed to best serve the evolving goals of Canyon Lake,” she said. “I am profoundly grateful for the warm welcome, the opportunity provided by the council, and the unwavering support from our exceptional city staff.”

Before her role in Canyon Lake, Nicole served the City of Lake Elsinore for nine years, where she eventually became the Deputy City Manager. Her experience and dedication to public service have left a lasting impact on the communities she has served.

Nicole said she plans to dedicate the upcoming period to her family and expressed excitement for future opportunities to make a difference in public administration. Mike Borja, the City’s Administrative Services Director, has been appointed as Acting City Manager as a search for Nicole’s replacement takes place.
