The Friday Flyer named Business of the Month

The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce named The Friday Flyer and its parent company Golding Publications as its March Business of the Month.

From keeping the community informed about local happenings to showcasing the vibrant spirit of Canyon Lake, The Friday Flyer has been a vital part of the Canyon Lake community for almost 34 years, the chamber said.

“Thank you for your unwavering commitment to keeping our community connected and informed,” Chamber President John Grande said. “As the backbone of our community’s news and events coverage, The Friday Flyer has consistently delivered top-notch journalism and engaging content.”

Golding Publications began publishing the weekly Friday Flyer newspaper shortly after it was formed in June 1990. Publisher Chuck Golding and the late Carolyn Knight, who served as the editor, co-owned the newspaper in its inception. The newspaper has been published every Friday since then.

“Through their dedication to delivering timely news and insightful articles, The Friday Flyer has truly become a cornerstone of Canyon Lake’s media landscape,” John said.

Chuck, who helped form the original Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce in 1992, served as its first vice president. His motivation for remaining a member of the chamber without interruption since then is the same today as it was when the chamber was founded.

“Our goal when the chamber began was to promote Canyon Lake business and attract more customers,” he said. “We were determined to market and promote ourselves to the Canyon Lake community so they’d drive across Railroad Canyon Road instead of turning right or left.”

The Parade of Frights was one of the first events the new chamber began in an effort to expose the Canyon Lake residents to the businesses in the Canyon Lake Town Center.

“The Halloween event has become a Canyon Lake tradition,” Chuck said. “And, it worked. Parents accompanying their costumed kids consistently commented about not knowing that so many businesses existed in the Town Center. The chamber has been remarkable in helping expose Canyon Lake businesses to the Canyon Lake community.”
