Family Matters Club ready for Santa gift giving

Canyon Lake Family Matters Club elves spent Sunday clearing the Target shelves fulfilling wish lists of letter writing Canyon Lake kids as part of its annual holiday letters to Santa gift-giving event.

The club’s elves, alongside Josh Steeber and his son Jayden, who generously donated proceeds from the annual holiday ugly sweater poker run, were busy selecting over 100 gifts for the children of Canyon Lake.

The effort was part of the club’s tradition of fulfilling wish lists from letters children wrote to Santa and placed in the Santa mailbox at both the Winter Wonderland event last week and at the special Santa Mailbox in town.

“Josh and his son Jayden joined us in purchasing gifts for Santa and we are so thankful for their support,” Club Founder Shawna Bowen  said. “The club is so grateful for the generous donation from the ugly sweater fundraiser and the donation helps us give kids here in Canyon Lake a gift from their wish list.”

Jeannie Hoonnirun, club president, also acknowledged the contribution of Josh and Jayden.

“Josh and Jayden made our shopping day extra special,” she said. “Having Jayden alone was a fun experience. Seeing a young man in such a giving mindset sprinkled a lot of Christmas spirit on the day.”

Shawna also extended a special thank you to all those who participated in the gift shopping, including Sandi Humphrey and Jeannie, for their time and effort during the busy Christmas season.

The children of Canyon Lake can expect their presents to start arriving after Monday.
