Monday to be full of 9/11 Canyon Lake tributes

Canyon Lake continues to be a community that will forever remember those who were lost on 9/11 in New York City in 2001.

The City of Canyon Lake is putting on an hour-long memorial service at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in the Canyon Lake Town Center Monday morning. Then, beginning at 2:30 p.m., the Canyon Lake Veterans & First Responders Group together with the City of Canyon Lake and Canyon Lake POA will put on a Golf Cart Parade that will proceed to the Canyon Lake Lodge for an afternoon and evening of music and vendors before the annual blue light tribute at 7:00 p.m.

The City of Canyon Lake has organized a program that promises to be a poignant and meaningful tribute to the memory of those who perished and provided help in a time of chaos and crisis at its 9/11 Remembrance Day Event.

The event, which begins at 8:30 a.m., will feature a lineup of distinguished speakers, including Mayor Jeremy Smith and Fire Chief Jeff LaTendresse, who will deliver speeches reflecting on the significance of the solemn occasion. Their words are expected to provide insight into the enduring impact of the September 11 attacks and the unwavering strength of the American spirit.

A special performance from Elsinore High School’s Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) will take place at the event.

The afternoon remembrance will start at 2:30 at East Port Park where a golf cart parade will begin and traverse Canyon Lake Drive toward the Canyon Lake Lodge.

Once at the Lodge, live music, food trucks and club and merchant vendors will be available. All are invited and there is no charge to attend. The evening’s special blue light tribute will be at 7:00 p.m. and guest speakers and entertainment will take place until 9:00 p.m.
