CL Community theater extends auditions to tomorrow

Canyon Lake Community Theatre is extending its auditions for children performers for the upcoming summer musical “Little Mermaid Jr.”

The community theater group received overwhelming demand for additional audition times from Canyon Lake thespians. Consequently, in addition to the auditions held over the weekend, it has extended auditions for their upcoming production to tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

The extended open auditions and callbacks will be held again tomorrow at the Eastport Building. After the auditions tomorrow morning, a parent information meeting is scheduled for noon.

New cast members will have the opportunity to rehearse their first song together as a group until 2:00 p.m. While many lead roles are still open for this production, all interested participants are encouraged to come prepared with a one-minute karaoke-style song of their choice. It is advisable to wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement during the auditions.

For parents who have children interested in participating, but do not wish to audition for a lead or speaking role, they are welcome to attend the noon parent meeting tomorrow to sign up.

There will be a production fee of $200 for all participants. As a nonprofit organization, Canyon Lake Community Theatre utilizes these fees to cover the costs of set design, technical aspects, costuming, and props for the show.

The group‘s children‘s summer program has been a beloved tradition in the community for the past 25 summers. It has provided countless children with an opportunity to develop their talents and passion for the performing arts.

“My child has participated for the past 12 summers,” Producer Nicole Garvito said. “Due to the knowledge my teenager gained from being a part of CLCT since the young age of 5, she has now performed in her 27th show as a lead in ‚Into the Woods‘ and has graced the stage multiple times at the Temecula Old Town Theater.”

Nicole said that without Canyon Lake Community Theatre, her daughter may never have ventured into the world of theater arts.

“If your child enjoys singing and dancing, I cannot recommend a better way for them to spend their summer,” she said. “Don‘t miss this incredible opportunity to join the Canyon Lake Community Theatre and be part of a memorable production.”

Canyon Lake Community Theatre is always looking for volunteers, donations and sponsors for its programs. For any inquiries regarding the summer program, interested individuals are encouraged to reach out to Nicole at 951-821-0120.
