Fiesta Hopper shaping up; big events planned

Canyon Lake’s unique and iconic celebration over the Memorial Day weekend is now a full three-day Fiesta Hopper celebration, full of more events than are possible to attend them all. An old-fashioned community parade will continue to be the focal point of the three-day event that will provide dozens of events and activities at five of the community’s largest parks over the Memorial Day Weekend beginning May 26.

Monday is the deadline for participating in the parade. Most participants in the parade dress up their golf cars in patriotic-themed decorations to celebrate patriotism, to honor the memory of those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, and to embrace the community‘s theme of Lake Life. Applications to be a part of the parade are available on the Canyon Lake POA website.

Rachel Billheimer, 5, rides Gigi in last year’s Fiesta Hopper Parade. The parade will again take place on the Saturday of the three-day event, but with a slightly altered route. Friday Flyer File Photo.

In addition to the traditional parade May 27 at 9:00 a.m., Fiesta Hopper will be held at five locations throughout the community: The Lodge, Holiday Harbor, Eastport, Indian Beach and Sierra Park.

Vendor booths are still available at each of the locations. Contacts for the various locations’ booths are on the POA website as well. Vendor booths are $75 each for a 12×12 space. Each vendor is allowed a maximum of three booths.

The rock wall will again be a featured attraction at Fiesta Hopper at Indian Beach on May 27. Last year Megan Moreno, left, and Aidan Moreno make it to the top. Friday Flyer File Photo.
