Boutique raises funds for senior center functions

Hundreds of shoppers stopped by the Canyon Lake Senior Center over the weekend to shop the annual Canyon Lake Holiday Boutique.

The two-day event, hosted by the Senior Center Committee, featured dozens of vendors selling hundreds of handmade items and baked goods.

Vendors each paid between $60 and $100 for their spaces to sell at the popular Holiday Boutique. Those proceeds will go towards more senior center activities such as the free Christmas dinner party held annually for seniors in Canyon Lake.

Members of the Senior Center Committee gave away a Quilt of Valor on Saturday to Navy veteran Jim Santangelo who served from 1957 to 1960.

“It was a pleasure to be here representing all veterans,” Jim said. “I want to thank all the veterans who came by and entered their names for the Opportunity Quilt.”

Grace Ward presented the Quilt of Valor to Jim and introduced some of the other quilters who donated their time to make the Quilt of Valor.

“The quilt is as beautiful as those ladies who made it,” Jim said.
