Letter: Time for change

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

Canyon Lake is a growing city in a growing county. Now that re-elections are coming up, I believe there needs to be congressional change. Ken Calvert has represented us for the 20 years I have lived in this community. Will Rollins, a former federal prosecutor, is this new change. He brings vigor and new ideas to us.

I know it’s hard for a small community like us to accept the need for change, but we should all be open to new ideas. Change can be uncomfortable, but this uncomfortableness reminds us that we are human and must think beyond our self-interest.

As future generations grow, we need laws that provide proper infrastructure, protect our environment, and increase housing affordability (California is expensive!).

It is time to have a fair individual who caters to both sides of the political compass. Because whether we like it or not, people with opposing views will always exist, and in a properly-working democracy, our elected officials work to represent us all.

Instead of offering resistance while immediately reading this article, I encourage you to look into Rollins and what he stands for because he stands for you.
