Halloween Carnival, Trunk or Treat next weekend

Little ghoulies and goblins will take over Holiday Harbor next weekend on Oct. 22 to participate in the annual Canyon Lake Family Matters Club’s 9th annual Halloween Carnival and Trunk or Treat.

The event a week prior to Halloween gives Canyon Lake kids an opportunity to have a blast two weekends in a row. The Family Matters Club’s popular event will be on Saturday next weekend from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Kids can come and trick or treat from trunk to trunk and enjoy a fun Halloween Carnival full of games, crafts and a costume contest, club founder Shawna Bowen said.

“The trunk or treat portion allows families, groups, clubs and businesses to get creative and decorate a themed car trunk,” Shawna said. “Several prizes will be handed out to the best-decorated trunks, including a $250 grand prize for the best trunk. So, grab your trunk and some décor and come out for a spooktacular good time.”

Trunk or treat is also a great alternative to the typical door-to-door trick or treating on a busy Halloween that falls on a school night this year, she said.

The carnival will include an apple-bobbing contest, carnival games, face painting, costume contest, and more. Child’s wrist bands are $5.00 and include all the fun.

There will be a snack shack with all the goodies a monster could want from mummy dogs to goopy nachos, Shawna said. Vendors will be at the carnival with all their Halloween wares and goodies available for purchase.

There are trunk-decorating entry forms on the club’s Facebook page and available by contacting the club at 714-394-4885 or info@FamilyMattersClub.org.
