Mary Burns, Kathy Voss win Senior Tournament

MARY BURNS, Low Gross Winner

Mary Burns, the low gross winner, and Kathy Voss, the low net winner, took home awards for winning the Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club’s Senior Championship Tournament held over two weekends last month.

The “Oldies But Goodies” tournament had 29 players and was hosted by the Past Presidents of the club. The tournament was held at the Canyon Lake Golf Course.

KATHY VOSS, Low Net Winner

Mary and Kathy, the overall winners for low gross and low net, will have their names engraved on the Senior Championship perpetual trophies that are displayed in the trophy case in the Canyon Lake Country Club lobby.

After the second day of the tournament, the players enjoyed a delicious luncheon at the Country Club along with homemade bundt cakes made by Maxine Whalen.

In addition to the two overall winners, the winners of the three flights (both gross and net) were recognized at the luncheon.

The three gross flight winners were A flight – Gerry Meeks,  B flight – Ura Furry and C flight – Maxine Whalen.

ANITA FAIRFIELD, Super Senior Winner

The low net winners in each flight were A flight – 1st Anita Fairfield, 2nd Darlene Cortez; B Flight – 1st Merilyn Murphy, 2nd Ina Pickard; and C Flight – 1st Linda Hudson,  2nd Linda Johnson.

Anita Fairfield won the Super Senior award for being the top finisher in the 75 and over category..

“We want to give a special thanks to the Country Club and the Pro Shop for all their help,” Linda Kamashian, the Tournament Chairperson, said.
