Canyon Lake Hair Design launches Food Drive

A Thanksgiving Food Drive is being organized by Canyon Lake Hair Design, a salon located in the Canyon Lake Town Center, and it is seeking the community’s help. The food drive began on Monday and will run through Nov. 22.

Sarah Danylo, who works for the salon as a stylist, is behind the launching of the food drive. She has worked with various food drives for the past 12 years which have helped families with Christmas and other giving functions.

“I didn’t grow up poor, but I know others aren’t as fortunate to always have food on their tables, gifts under their trees, or being able to take a small day trip to Disneyland,” Sarah said. “With the pandemic last year, and many losing their jobs and falling on hard times, I thought doing a food drive this year for Thanksgiving would be a great way to support Canyon Lakers who may need a little boost.”

The Salon is looking to fill 10 boxes to donate to local families in Canyon Lake. If there is a surplus, Sarah said the donations will go to neighboring communities to help their families who may need a little assistance.

In addition to seeking those who can donate for the food drive, the salon is also looking for those who may need the help.

“The employees of Canyon Lake Hair Design know that asking for help isn’t always easy,” salon owner Debra Emmerson said. “If you or your family are in need, you can simply call the shop and give your address and a meal will be dropped off at your door.”

Debra said if they come up short on turkeys, she will personally donate additional turkeys to help complete the meals. Frozen turkeys cannot be stored, so if donating a turkey, the shop asks that they be dropped off on Nov. 22.

The salon has put together a calendar of food and drop-off days for specific items in an effort to not have too many of one thing and not enough of another.

“These are merely suggestions,” Sarah said. “The entire staff at Canyon Lake Hair Designs would like to thank the community for its support in helping families have a wonderful Thanksgiving.”
