Fatal accident

Railroad Canyon Road’s eastbound lane was closed for several hours Saturday morning and afternoon after a head-on collision there resulted in a Quail Valley teenager dying from her injuries. The accident occured just east of Church Road where the vehicle in which Ana Arreola, 18, was driving in the westbound lane of Railroad Canyon Road crossed over the median and collided with a car coming in the opposite direction. The driver of the car she hit was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries, the Riverside Sheriff’s Department said. Ana was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police said the cause of the collision is still under investigation and that alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
