Boy Scout holding Halloween morning pancake breakfast

Canyon Lake Boy Scout Matthew Thomas is holding a fundraiser Halloween Pancake Breakfast Sunday morning at the VFW Post in Wildomar. The funds raised will go toward funding his Eagle Project.

Matthew’s Eagle Project, which is required prior to earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, involves laying bricks and repainting the disabled and purple heart parking spaces at the VFW Post.

After the bricks are placed, the VFW will install names of veterans on the bricks. Matt’s project will also include repainting the faded and damaged parking spaces at the VFW Post parking lot. This will allow for easier parking for disabled people, including veterans who have received the Purple Heart Medal.

The breakfast on Halloween morning begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 11:00 a.m. The cost is $5.00 for those who make a reservation through Venmo (@susan-gamble-10) or Paypal (@sgamble38). Those paying through these methods should be sure to include their name and state it is for breakfast. At the door price will be $6.00 each. Additional donations to help fund the project will also be accepted.

The breakfast will include pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, coffee, orange juice and milk. There will be a decorating station with a variety of options for children to decorate their pancakes.

The VFW Post 1508 is located at 21180 Waite St. in Wildomar.

Matt will also be collecting CRV Recycling to raise funds for the project, which is estimated to cost $2,000 to complete.

Matt is a Life Scout in Troop 2011 in Canyon Lake and attends Temescal Canyon High School.
