Battle of Cities and City Golf Tournaments this weekend

The Canyon Lake Golf Course is going to be ultra busy this weekend. Both the Battle of the Cities and the City Golf Championship will be taking place tomorrow and Sunday.

The Battle of the Cities is a tournament that started last year and pits golfers from the cities of Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, Wildomar and Menifee. The tournament is a one-day, 18-hole match and will be played tomorrow (Saturday). Each city will have a team of four golfers.

Canyon Lake won the inaugural tournament last year. The winning Canyon Lake team last year was made up of players Johnny Guerrero, George Sauseda, Javier Torres and Greg Harris.

The Seventh Annual City of Canyon Lake Golf Championship Tournament will take place tomorrow and Sunday at the same Canyon Lake Golf & Country Club. Tee times will be from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on both days.

The popular tournament is being co-sponsored by The Canyon Lake POA and the City of Canyon Lake. The tournament is also supported by the Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club, Canyon Lake Family Golf Club, and Canyon Lake Women’s Golf Club.

The city tournament winner will receive a prize along with his or her name engraved on the City of Canyon Lake Golf Championship Tournament trophy that is on display year round at the Canyon Lake Golf & Country Club.

The city tournament format is a stroke play event. The players will be flighted by handicap and then will play a gross score tournament.
