Sierra Park North issuing contract

The Canyon Lake POA continues to make progress on getting the contract where it needs to be in order to begin construction of Sierra Park North. Association members voted in May to allocate $2 million in funds plus a 10% contingency to build the park.

Initial bids came in over the amount approved, so Canyon Lake POA General Manager Eric Kazakoff and his staff were tasked with working with contractors to bring the costs down.

At the Canyon Lake POA Board meeting Tuesday, board members announced that hundreds of thousands of dollars have been trimmed from the cost of the project. The restroom and pump track will be constructed toward the end of the project, they said, but will come in much less expensively than similar pump tracks in neighboring communities, including Temecula.

The board also promised that funds used on the project will fall within what the voters approved.

Club Rush set for July 20 to introduce clubs

Club Rush, a day to check out all the Canyon Lake Clubs and Businesses all in one location, will take place July 20 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Holiday Harbor.

Clubs and local businesses will be on hand to answer questions attendees might have about a particular club or business and to ascertain if there are clubs they might be interested in joining.

Club Rush Passports will be given to attendees to take around to all the booths. The booths will have something fun for everyone to do from games to crafts. Each booth will put a stamp in the passports. Once the passport is filled with the required amount of stamps, it is placed in the Grand Prize Drawing basket.

Fun competitions between the clubs and businesses will take place and prizes and trophies will be awarded. There will also be a best decorated booth contest. The Canyon Lake Yacht Club won last time.

There will also be a free kid’s fun zone with face painting and games. The snack bar will be open for goodies like nachos, hot dogs and other snacks.

North Ski Area, back water rules discussed

Controversial rules approved by the previous Canyon Lake POA board were modified Tuesday, limiting priority to the Slalom Area of the slalom skiers Monday through Friday from sunrise to noon. The 28-day reading said the rest of those days and the weekends will be open to usage, through sign ups, by the rest of the community.

Other rules pertaining to the North Ski Area were also discussed and 28-day readings were also made. These rules were regarding how turns using the course would be determined, etc. Wake surfing rules and usage of the back water area rules were also given 28-day readings.
