Canyon Lake joining with cities for clean-up day

The cities of Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, and Wildomar are banding together to attempt to clean up their communities of unsightly trash. Volunteers are being summoned for the June 26 event where the trails and shoreline of the BLM parcels within the city will be cleaned up.

Each city has identified areas where trash has accumulated and will send its volunteers to those specific locations. Supplies for collecting the trash can be picked up for the Canyon Lake project at the Canyon Lake City Hall the week prior.

This BLM land adjacent to the North Ski Area of Canyon Lake is the target of a cleanup sponsored by the city on June 28. The trails and shoreline will be scoured for trash and debris and collected for disposal. Lake Elsinore and Wildomar are also participating in the tri-city event.Map provided by Google Maps

“The two highlighted locations in Canyon Lake are our two BLM parcels in the city,” Canyon Lake Management Analyst Tyler Ferrari said. “With the high traffic they receive during the summer months, there is unfortunately a lot of trash left on the trails and by the water.”

Volunteers can participate individually, or form a group with friends, family, youth groups, local community groups, etc. They can choose when, where and how long they want to participate. Canyon Lake residents can sign up online at www.Lake-Elsinore.org/LoveYourNeighborhood.

School service hours can be obtained by participating in the event.
