After a disappointing performance last week in the CIF Championships where he shot an 82, Canyon Lake’s Nixon Lauritzen rebounded over the weekend to win The Futures Champion Golf Tournament Tough as Steel. The tournament, played on the Redhawk Golf Club’s Temecula course, was the Future Champion Golf Summer Collegiate Series Kickoff and featured 21 golfers from around the country.
Nixon, who just finished his freshman year in high school, was among the youngest to compete in the 15-23 age competition. He defeated Texas’ Jacob Hudiburg by a single stroke after finishing the second round at two under par.
