Wimbledon-clad local tennis teams compete in CL tourney

With The Canyon Lake Tennis Club hosting its annual Wimbledon Mixer Saturday night, it was time for the players to break out their Wimbledon all white outfits. With the courts filled with the classically-dressed players, the play on the court resulted in the Oxford team winning the tournament.

The Wimbledon Tournament Champion Team Oxford consisted of Rhonda Molly Arendt, Jully Lee Martilla, Mike Porter, Michelle Porter, Danette Conlin, John Cardoza, Elizabeth Cardoza, and Ed Basubas.

The High Point individual winners were Rhonda Arendt (women’s division) and Mike Porter (men’s division).

The Oxford Team members and high point winners Rhonda and Mike were given tennis swag and gift cards.

“Thanks goes out to our Tournament Director Carlos Hansen and our Head Tennis Pro Bobby Kielty for putting this great event together,” Jennifer Denson, a club member, said. “It was so great to see so many of our club members participating. It was a perfect evening to host our matches as we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. The weather cooled off just at the right time as well. I’m proud to be part of such a great community.”
