Canyon Lake Yacht Club holds Mardi Gras cruise

There was a party going on Saturday upon the waters of Canyon Lake, complete with Mardi Gras masks and beads. The Canyon Lake Yacht Club held its first themed cruise and nine boats, completely decorated to match the theme, participated.

Rich Moline, the Acting Commodore, chose the Mardi Gras theme for Saturday’s event. Members decorated their boats, people wore masks and beads, and many brought Creole-inspired foods to share.

“It was a tremendous turnout, we had around 60 people in our nine boats,” Rich said. “In case you didn’t know, you don’t need a boat to be a part of the club.”

The boat goers took a cruise around the lake at 5:00 p.m. and then tied up on Catfish Harbor until 11:00 p.m.

There will be four themed cruise events this year and a director on the board will choose the themes. The next two themed sunset boat cruises will be Aug. 14 and Sept. 18.

The club is constantly looking for more Canyon Lakers to join, Rich said. For more information on membership, email Rich at Rich.Moline@yahoo.com.
