Camp bookings available 6 months out

Effective Sept. 7, Canyon Lake POA members can make reservations for themselves and for their guests at Happy Camp up to six months in advance after the board passed the revised rule Tuesday.

Before the passing of the revised rule, members could only make reservations two weeks in advance.

“Over the past several years, the campground has become a more popular amenity being utilized by members and their sponsored guests,” Assistant General Manager Lynn Jensen said in a recommendation to the board. “With this increased use, the CLPOA has received numerous requests to extend the time period in which a member makes a reservation prior to their arrival date.”

Lynn said that many campgrounds allow their visitors to book their reservations ahead of time so the visitor may have time to plan ahead for their trip. She and her staff recommended to the board that it extend the booking window to provide this additional service to POA members and campers.

Reservations need to be made in person at the Happy Camp offices where a deposit must be made. Telephone reservations are not accepted nor are reservations accepted at the Canyon Lake POA corporate offices in the Canyon Lake Town Center.

The camping rules regarding a maximum stay of 16 consecutive days was left intact, but the rule which allows members with homes under construction to stay at Happy Camp for up to six months was altered to exclude their staying in the campground during Memorial Day, July 4th or Labor Day.
