Go Fund Me set up for Canyon Lake Mike Lemire widow

Mike Lemire was a long-time loved resident of Canyon Lake. A GoFundMe account was set up in his name after he was diagnosed with lung cancer late last year. Mike died early in the morning last Friday, but the GoFundMe campaign lives on.

Mike’s GoFundMe account was initially set up to help his wife Kim care for Mike, as she was unable to continue to work after Mike’s diagnosis turned terminal.

“After 26 years of marriage, Kim had to plan Palliative Care instead of her retirement. Kim no longer had the time to work as she devoted all of her time, energy and love into supporting Mike,” said friend Kaley Williams. “As a result, the financial stress made an unimaginably difficult time even more terrible.”

Since Mike’s passing, Kim has been grieving the loss of her husband, but also has found that she must move out of her Canyon Lake home because of financial pressures, Mike’s sister Karen Lemire, said.

“Mike and Kim had a connection and love that is only otherwise seen in movies,” Kaley said. “They were each other’s world, sweetheart and soulmate. They built a life and family that reflects that deep love.”

Mike and Kim both worked at Pechanga Resort for many years. Mike was a master mechanic and had worked on cars his entire life.

“He was happy to tinker with cars in the garage all day,” Karen said. “But Kim would say ‘come on, we’re going.’ Kim was always the adventurous one.”

To contribute to the campaign, log in at GoFundMe.com and search for Mike Lemire.

“Life is fleeting and our actions are so powerful,” Kaley said. “Please, if you can, donate to help Kim through this time. Even the smallest donation will contribute towards providing her the most deserved blessing of reprieve. Please keep Kim in your thoughts and prayers.”
