Canyon Lakers Carol Brooks and Diana Sue Parker competed in the 2019 Pan American Senior Waterski Championships Oct. 23 through Oct. 26 in Bujama, Peru, where Carol won a gold medal in Slalom and Diana won a bronze in Jump.

The ladies also reached the podium at the Western Regional Waterski Championships in Colorado in July. Carol won 2nd place in Women’s 5 Slalom and Diana earned first place in Women’s 5 Jump and Overall.

In August at the AWSA Goode Waterski National Championships in West Palm Beach Florida, Carol won second place in Slalom and Diana won first place in Jump and Overall.

Carol has been skiing in Canyon Lake for the past 20 years. She has won Slalom titles at two USA Nationals and four Western Regional Championships.

At the 2016 35+ Waterski World Championships, Carol qualified to ski in Slalom, Trick and Jump and won a silver medal in Slalom.

Diana has been training for nearly 30 years in Canyon Lake. She holds the W5 Rocky Mountain Jump record and has many national and regional gold, silver and bronze medals and titles.

In 2018, Diana competed at the World Over 35 Waterski Championships in Santiago, Chile, where she qualified in Jump, Trick and Slalom. She earned a bronze medal in Jump.

In 2016, Diana competed in Toledo, Spain, where she qualified in Jump and Trick. She brought home the bronze in Jump. In 2012, she competed in Guadalajara, Mexico, where she earned a bronze medal with a 96-foot jump. At the 1996 Pan American Waterski Championships, Diana brought home a silver in Slalom, Jump and Overall.

The women are looking forward to competing in Bordeaux, France, in September at the 2020 IWWF World Over 35 Waterski Championships.
