Save the date for Veterans Day Celebration

The City of Canyon Lake will host its 11th annual Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, Nov. 11. This year’s event will be emceed by Vicki Warren, chair of Canyon Lake’s Veterans Day Committee.

The celebration starts at 10 a.m. with a flyover by the Warbirds West, followed by the posting of the flag and colors by the Elsinore High School Flying Tigers Junior ROTC under the direction of Major Charles Ruhl.

One rose for each Canyon Lake veteran who passed away this year will be placed in the urn next to the monument along with an extra rose for the unknown veterans. A floral wreath also will be placed at the monument and remain there for one week.

Chuck Casey, a former nuclear electrician in the Navy and an active volunteer in the community, will be reading the poem “Old Glory.”

The Canyon Lake Choraleers and Mike Shroyer of Good Time Entertainment will be providing the patriotic music.

The Canyon Lake Quilters will be hosting a free opportunity drawing for a “Quilts of Valor” quilt. The drawing is for Canyon Lake veterans.

Complimentary hot dogs, courtesy of Coldwell Banker and the Canyon Lake Market, will be available after the celebration.
