EVMWD implements Beekeeper First program

Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District’s new BeeKeeper First program helps address the widespread decline of bees, which are needed to pollinate about $15 billion worth of fruits and vegetables in the U.S. each year.

EVMWD will use professional beekeepers to safely remove and relocate hives found inside customers’ meter boxes and at its facilities. One hive can house thousands of bees.

Customers who find a hive in their meter box should avoid the swarm and contact EVMWD at 951-674-3146.

Beekeeper First is a joint program with EVMWD, Rancho Water District and local beekeepers to protect nature’s pollinators.
