Yacht Club hosts annual Blessing of the Boats Ceremony

The Canyon Lake Yacht Club will celebrate the official start of the 2024 boating season with its annual Opening Day and Blessing of the Boats ceremony tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. This cherished event, a staple in yachting communities worldwide, marks the beginning of spring boating activities in Canyon Lake.

The festivities will commence with a flag ceremony and the singing of the national anthem by Aprile McKinnon, followed by opening remarks.

The highlight of the ceremony, the traditional blessing of the boats, is intended to wish all boaters a safe and prosperous season. Participants are encouraged to decorate their boats with American flags as a symbol of participation and unity.

The ceremony will conclude with a cannon blast, a time-honored signal that the boating season has officially begun, ushering in months of aquatic adventure and enjoyment for the Canyon Lake community.

Distinguished guests, including Canyon Lake Mayor Dale Welty, Pastor Thor Ramsey, representatives from the Shoreline Yacht Club, City Council members, POA board members, and POA staff, are expected to attend, demonstrating their support for this significant community event.
