Yacht Club kicks off year with enthusiastic potluck gathering

More than 100 members and guests of the Canyon Lake Yacht Club convened at Holiday Harbor recently for a potluck event, marking a lively start to the club‘s year of activities. The gathering featured a bountiful spread, allowing participants to enjoy a variety of dishes while engaging with fellow boating enthusiasts.

The event facilitated membership renewals and new registrations at a dedicated booth, where attendees could also gather information about California‘s mandatory boating ID registration. A merchandise booth displayed the latest club gear, and a raffle, along with a volunteer sign-up sheet for upcoming activities, underscored the club‘s commitment to community involvement.

The Yacht Club commenced the event with a moment of silence for Mary Jane Kelly, a cherished resident and the club’s membership chair, who passed away on Feb. 1. The board took this opportunity to outline several exciting initiatives for the year, including monthly dinners to honor significant member contributions.

Additionally, the Yacht Club‘s new website, clycca.org, was announced as fully operational, offering detailed information about events, merchandise, and membership benefits. The board emphasized the array of scheduled events, such as a forthcoming clinic on boat readiness and traditional festivities like the Blessing of the Boats and the annual Holiday Parade of Lights. Commodore Rob Mora also highlighted the club‘s focus on fun and community.

“This year is all about having fun at these events,” Rob said. “These events are a great opportunity to enjoy our Little Bit of Paradise, make new friends, and have special moments on and off the water.”

With a successful kickoff event, the Canyon Lake Yacht Club is set to provide its members with a year filled with engaging activities and opportunities to celebrate the boating lifestyle in Canyon Lake.
