POA’s Harmony McNaughton receives CACM Innovator Award

Harmony McNaughton, Public Information Officer and Clerk of the Board for the Canyon Lake POA, received the 2024 California Association of Community Managers Innovator Award at a ceremony during the CACM Law Seminar & Expo in Anaheim last week.

The award celebrates Harmony’s innovative efforts in community management. Her achievements include developing a comprehensive training program for board members and implementing an effective records management system. She played a key role in the $1.4 million sale of the POA’s Fire Station property to the City of Canyon Lake.

Canyon Lake POA General Manager Eric Kazakoff praised Harmony’s contributions.

“We are proud of the accomplishments made in 2023 and of Harmony for this monumental achievement,” he said. “It has been a personal goal of mine to support employees through their continued education in the industry. All of which helps us better serve our members.”

Harmony started at the Canyon Lake POA over 15 years ago. She has significantly improved public information initiatives, policy formulation, and records management and her skills in crisis communication and as a media liaison have been invaluable, Eric said.

Her nomination highlighted her ascent from her start at the Canyon Lake POA to becoming a “thriving corporate superstar.” Harmony’s negotiation skills and professionalism have made a significant impact.

In addition to her administrative duties, Harmony supervises corporate office personnel. She provides training in various key areas including record management and event planning. As the Clerk of the Board of Directors, she is a vital presence at Board Meetings and frequently offers crucial insights there.

Harmony holds certifications as a Certified Manager of Community Associations and a Large-Scale Community Association Manager. Her work continues to positively shape the Canyon Lake community and the POA.
