Senior Center a hub of community activities, events

The Canyon Lake Senior Center is a vibrant hub of activity, offering a wide range of events and activities that cater to the entire community, not just seniors. With a comprehensive schedule of events available on the Senior Center door and on the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association website, the center ensures everyone has access to its engaging lineup.

Highlight activities include the bi-monthly Bingo nights organized by the Canyon Lake Lions Club which attracts participants across various age groups and fosters community spirit. The center’s agenda is packed with opportunities for engagement, including Needlecraft, Hand & Foot Canasta, Mahjong, Mexican Train, Sewing Group, Duplicate Bridge, and Bunco.

A unique and heartwarming initiative at the center is the Canyon Lake Quilters Group, which dedicates its time to creating Quilts for Veterans, merging member skill development with a noble cause.

Additionally, the center is a venue for club events, such as the upcoming Casino Night hosted by the Mermaids of Canyon Lake. Monthly senior potlucks offer a chance for senior attendees to enjoy delicious meals and partake in games like Left, Right, Center.

The Senior Center benefits significantly from a dedicated senior work group, led by Carrie Pratt of the Canyon Lake POA. This group, referred to as the “caretakers of the senior center” by member Cathy Barbay, plays a crucial role in managing bookings and maintaining the facility. Volunteers become particularly vital during the busier fall and winter months when the center hosts larger events.

Overall, the Canyon Lake Senior Center stands out as a beacon of community engagement and inclusivity, providing a welcoming space for all residents to connect, learn, and enjoy together.
