New Canyon Lake mayor outlines priorities for 2024

As the new year approaches, new City of Canyon Lake Mayor Dale Welty extended his heartfelt wishes for a prosperous and blessed year to all residents and businesses of Canyon Lake.

Dale, who was chosen by his fellow council members to serve  as the city’s mayor for the 2024 term, expressed his gratitude for being entrusted with this significant role. He commended his predecessor, Jeremy Smith, for his outstanding leadership.

Dale, a long-time resident and former Canyon Lake Property Owners Association Board Member, aims to bring a fresh perspective to the city‘s leadership. He emphasized his commitment to fostering civility within the community, engaging youth, and celebrating the growth and success of all Canyon Lakers.

In a New Year’s message, Dale outlined his priorities for the year ahead, which include cultivating local and regional partnerships, prioritizing open communication, and celebrating shared successes.

A key focus for his tenure, he said, will be exploring creative opportunities for the city‘s financial sustainability, including diversifying revenue streams and introducing new economic development initiatives to support the flourishing business community.

Among the notable projects for the upcoming year are the planning and groundbreaking of renovations for City Hall and the newly-acquired Fire Station 1. These improvements will incorporate sustainability and energy-efficient concepts.

Additionally, the city looks forward to implementing safety enhancements on Railroad Canyon Road, thanks to a grant from Caltrans’ Local Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).

Dale reaffirmed his dedication to serving the community and pledged to be an accessible and supportive leader for his colleagues and staff. He expressed enthusiasm for the year ahead and the successes that lie in store for Canyon Lake.

“It is my privilege to continue to serve Canyon Lake,” Dale said. “I am excited for the journey ahead and our many successes in the next 12 months.”
