Sunday’s Canyon Lake Choraleers “A Reel Christmas ” Concert featured beloved melodies from Christmas movies, blending nostalgia with a festive spirit.

The concert was filled with Holiday spirit, and fun for all. In attendance was a large crowd of people of all ages. The concert had performances by soloists, duets, the choir, dancers and the children’s choir all directed by Lorilee Bajema.

Lorilee set up each of the song’s origins prior to each performance. There were many songs that stood out.

Kent Skidmore opened the show with an outstanding performance of “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” and midway through the song, during the instrumental interlude, Kent grabbed his wife by the hand and danced with her in the middle of the aisle, resulting in a profound cheer from the crowd. His clear, smooth voice is one that leaves everybody wanting to hear more.

The show was highlighted by some very young performers who graced the audience with their talents. Vocally surprising everybody were Elanna Jensen, 11, Isabella Acosta, 15, and young male soloist Venjamin White, 8.

The children’s choir, which consisted of singers ages 5-11 years of age, was absolutely adorable as they lit up the stage with their smiles and rhythmic display of their instruments. The Mascot Evan or (Little Olaf), 2, made the concert goers giggle as he came on and off the stage.

The lovely Kylenen Evans blessed the audience with her solo harp performance. An exceptional rendition of, “Baby it’s Cold Outside,” was a hit. Legendary Choraleer Larry Garland, of course, wooed the crowd again with his grand voice and presence.

The show had many wonderful performances and surprises along the way including Kent Skidmore as he came out dressed as the Grinch and sang his rendition of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.”

The crowd seemed to love the sing-along portion of the show, as everyone joined together in singing the popular carols of the season as the lyrics were displayed on a screen on the stage.

The concert took place at the Canyon Lake Lodge’s Holiday Bay Room, with the bar opened at intermission for all to enjoy some drinks as they waited for the concluding act.
