Canyon Lake businesses rally to donate coats for veterans

In a remarkable display of community spirit and generosity, businesses in Canyon Lake have come together to donate a significant amount of warm clothing to assist veterans in need. The collective effort resulted in the donation of nearly 200 coats and hoodies, 170 beanies, and 100 pairs of warm socks.

Local businesses, including Lady Warrior Fitness, Just 4 Paws Grooming, Driver’s Choice Insurance, Advanced Auto Care, Rodeo Smoke Shop, Sports Stop, Canyon Lake Gunsmithing, and Canyon Lake Nails, participated by hosting collection boxes.

The donations were coordinated with Peter Ballantyne, the Executive Director of Paralyzed Veterans of America, Cal-San Diego Chapter, who oversees the distribution of these items. Peter highlighted the need for such initiatives, mentioning that there are over 750 homeless or extremely low-income veterans his organization assists.

In addition to providing warm clothing, the group also distributes food to these veterans. Encouraged by the success of this year’s drive, plans are already in motion for next year. The goal for the next drive is to collect 750 jackets or hoodies and to conduct a non-perishable food drive simultaneously in November, Peter said.

Canyon Lake businesses and residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and start collecting jackets early to support this noble cause next year.
