YOP Club holds Christmas Party

The Canyon Lake Young Old People’s Club celebrated its first annual Christmas Party at Pepe’s Mexican Grill in the Canyon Lake Town Center on Saturday night. The event marked a significant milestone for the club, which began with just 14 members and has now grown to over 500.

The festive gathering drew over 100 attendees, all Canyon Lake residents over the age of 50, coming together to celebrate the holiday season. The party featured tickets starting at $25.00, which included a buffet of appetizers, dessert, and a range of entertainment.

Highlights of the evening included performances by the young and talented artists “Scattered Dreams,” a surprise visit from the Grinch and Santa, and a 50/50 Raffle that supported the “Rose Again Foundation Foster Children.”

Throughout the night, guests enjoyed giveaways, a conga line led by Santa, and a new theme song for the club set to the tune of the YMCA, creatively led by Aprile DeAnne McKinnon. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, great music, and the forging of new friendships.

“Our YOP-C favorite was celebrating the holiday with a great group of people,” Cindy Silk-Gonzalez said. “The lively Christmas atmosphere, dancing, making new friends, and contagious laughter made for a memorable evening.”

Cindy and her husband Scott, who recently moved to Canyon Lake in August from Pasadena after living there for 30 years, praised Judy and Pete Dorazio, the club’s founders, for making everyone feel welcome.

“We are enjoying all the newest amenities of the community,” Cindy said. “We especially enjoy cruising around the lake in our golf cart and meeting many new families.”

The Young Old People’s Club  is open to new members and can be joined via its Facebook page, Canyon Lake “Young Old People’s” Club.
