Family Matters Holiday Home Decorating Contest now on

The festive season in Canyon Lake is about to get brighter with the 4th Annual Holiday Home Exterior Decorating Contest, sponsored by the Canyon Lake Family Matters Club. This much-anticipated event invites residents to showcase their holiday spirit through creative and dazzling exterior decorations.

This festive event, open to all Canyon Lake residents, is set to showcase the community’s holiday spirit and creativity. The contest runs until Dec. 15 with judging scheduled for after dusk on Dec. 22. Winners will be announced on Dec. 23 via the club’s Facebook group page.Participation is free, and entries must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Dec. 15. Contestants are encouraged to email their completed entry forms, ensuring “Holiday Home” is included in the email’s subject line, to info@familymattersclub.org.

The contest focuses on exterior decorations only, including window displays visible from outside. Judging will be based on curb appeal as viewed from the street, and will not include back or side yards. When registering, homeowners must indicate which category they are competing in, which includes “Merry and Bright” for the best display of lights, “Best Themed Decorations,” and a special category for “First Time Entry.” This category designation is essential for the event’s color-coded map. Prizes include a $100 Amazon gift card and a trophy for the first-place winner in each category. The judges have established protocols to ensure there are no ties in the contest. The Family Matters Club encourages creativity, appropriateness, and fun in decorating, and thanks the community for its participation in this joyous holiday tradition.
