City honors local hero Kaelyn Bloch

The Canyon Lake City Council honored resident Kaelyn Bloch for her heroic actions in aiding a driver who suffered a medical emergency at Temescal Canyon High School. Kaelyn, a paraeducator at the school, demonstrated remarkable courage and quick thinking during the incident, City Council Member Kasey Castillo, on the left in the photo, said during the presentation last week.

The event unfolded on Oct. 6, when Kaelyn witnessed a vehicle crashing into a fence in the school’s student pick-up area. Realizing the driver was in distress, she immediately tried to enter the vehicle. Upon finding the doors locked, Kaelyn resourcefully retrieved a window punch from her vehicle and used it to break into the car, sustaining injuries to her hands and arms in the process.

Despite her own injuries, Kaelyn provided assistance to the driver until emergency medical personnel arrived and transported the individual to the hospital.

In recognition of her bravery and swift response, the Canyon Lake City Council awarded Kaelyn a Certificate of Recognition, applauding her willingness to act and readiness in an emergency situation. The ceremony was attended by Lake Elsinore School District Trustee Dr. Jennette Vanderpool, Temescal Canyon High School Principal Joshua Hill, Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services Dr. Kip Meyer, and Director of Security and School Safety Scott Merrill, all showing support for Bloch’s commendable actions.

Further honoring her dedication, Kaelyn will be recognized as Employee of the Month at the upcoming school board meeting.
