Come join vets at city picnic

The City of Canyon Lake will once again host the Veterans Day Salute to Service celebration tomorrow to pay tribute to those who have valiantly served in the armed forces.

The city invites the community to Holiday Harbor Park at 2:00 p.m. where the family-friendly festivities will encompass live musical performances, inspiring speeches, entertaining competitions with rewards, and the much-anticipated annual flyover.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their appetites and relish offerings from local food vendors, as well as partake in the yearly pie-eating competition. It is recommended that those attending bring folding chairs and shade coverings.

Veterans in attendance will be presented with a distinctive Veteran Challenge Coin courtesy of the city. Additionally, veterans can enroll at the event for a chance to win a POA Handmade Quilt crafted by the Canyon Lake Quilters Club.

In addition to music provided by a DJ throughout the event, the Canyon Lake Choraleers will perform on the Holiday Harbor Amphitheater stage.

The day will include motivational speakers, featuring Council Member Mark Terry with a local veteran, and Honorable Judge Mark Johnson.

Various food vendors, including Brats by the CLAMS, as well as other specialty vendors will sell their wares.

There will be various competitions with prizes, including the Pie Eating Contest for adults and the Whipped Cream Eating Contest for Kids.

A flyover by Show Boss Productions is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

The city is also sponsoring the Canyon Lake Town Center Field of Honor at the Veterans Memorial Park. More than 250 flags have been placed at the park for the Veteran‘s Day Weekend.

Sponsored flags are labeled with the honored Veteran‘s name with dog tags and a patriotic ribbon.
