Flag of old golf balls gifted to Tuesday Work Group

The Tuesday Work Group, a dedicated group that meets every Tuesday at the Canyon Lake Golf Course to volunteer maintenance work, reconvened after its summer hiatus this week and were greeted with a memorable gift.

Upon their return after being off since June, members of the Tuesday Work Group encountered a one-of-a-kind gift – a golf ball flag crafted entirely from golf balls found near the 17th Hole on the course.

The golf balls that were used to make the flag were discovered during clean-up efforts of the acacia bushes off the 17th Hole. With a bit of spray paint and a custom frame made by Mark Griffiths, the flag emerged as a tribute to the group’s unwavering commitment to making Canyon Lake a more beautiful place to live while sharing their love of the country. The TWG takes much pride in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance every morning they meet.

Susan Fitzgerald-Prince hatched the idea when the group had collected a full bucket of used golf balls, some as old as the golf course itself, while clearing bushes at the 17th Hole..

“We’re all about community, teamwork, and taking pride in our beautiful surroundings,” Susan said. “I couldn’t have asked for a better welcome back from our summer break.”

The Tuesday Work Group, which has been active for 50 years, primarily focuses on golf course improvement initiatives and beautification.

As they return for another season, they are actively encouraging more people to join their ranks. The Tuesday Work Group welcomes all who are willing to roll up their sleeves and make a difference.

The Tuesday Work Group’s flag made of golf balls serves as a reminder that their collective efforts can bring beauty and unity to their community. As they look forward to the months ahead, the group is excited to welcome new faces, foster friendships, and continue their mission of making Canyon Lake the best it can be.

Those interested in joining the Tuesday Work Group or learning more about their initiatives, should contact Eric Schrader at 408-966-6690 or simply show up at one of their Tuesday morning meetings.
