CL Drive accident results in fatality

A single-car accident on Canyon Lake Drive South caused the death of a male driver on Sunday at 1:53 a.m., according to deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station. The driver was ejected after his car had collided into a palm tree in the center divider of Canyon Lake Drive South near Continental Drive.

After being ejected, the driver was pinned underneath his vehicle. When Canyon Lake Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene, the firefighters used their equipment to free the driver and provided medical aid. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Canyon Lake Fire personnel, according to Sheriff Department Sergeant Brad Foster.

The Lake Elsinore Station’s Traffic Unit assumed the investigation. The driver’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
