Canyon Lake Garden Club to create garden at vacant lot

The Canyon Lake Garden Club is installing a community garden tomorrow and anyone wishing to help can show up at 7:00 a.m. at  the empty lot between 23566 and 23592 Schooner Drive. Those wishing to help should come prepared with shovels, clippers, and rakes.

At the club’s last meeting, Canyon Lake Garden Club member Charlotte Lewis showcased her expertise in making delicious pomegranate jelly for fellow club members last week and walked them through the step-by-step process.

The event took place at her residence where Charlotte proudly displayed her thriving pomegranate tree and bountiful vegetable garden for the members attending.

During the class, which attracted a total of 12 participants, Charlotte skillfully demonstrated the step-by-step process of making pomegranate jelly. As the class progressed for about two and a half hours, attendees were attentive as Charlotte shared her jelly-making tips.

Demonstrating her passion for pomegranates, she taught the participants how to hull and juice the succulent fruits before expertly guiding them through the canning process using a water bath. After she finished, those attending were informed the jelly needed to firm up before being ready. They’ll need to return later to pick up their samples.

Charlotte, who has been making pomegranate jelly for several years, happily answered questions from the club members and provided valuable insights into the intricacies of the jelly-making process as well as how to care for a pomegranate tree.
