Johnny Juarez with Patriotic Arms gives back to the children

The Canyon Lake Library is always looking for a little help reading to kids and volunteering in other tasks around the facility.

Johnny and Veronica Juarez, owners of the Patriotic Arms in the Canyon Lake Town Center, were eager to fulfill some of the needs at the library and read to the kids recently for Armed Forces Day.

Johnny read the book “My First Counting Book” by Cindy Entin. The book teaches children the numbers one through 10 using poetic prose with colorful illustrations of equipment, uniforms, medals, traditions, and other mementos exclusive to the Marines community.

Johnny led the children in waving flags and practicing counting.

“The kids seemed pretty entertained,” Johnny said. “They stayed quiet, they sat down and listened to the story. It was nice to see the kids happy. Obviously, I have kids and when you see them not fighting and crying, but happy, it is nice, especially when there‘s a bunch of them.”

“We plan on having our kids join some of the summer activities when their grandparents are here to help with the kids,” Veronica said.

Gloria Snyder from the Canyon Lake library was thankful to have Johnny and Veronica come to the library to help. She said the volunteers always add something special to the week. The library is always looking for community members to volunteer. For more information on how to help, contact Gloria at Gloria.Snyder@rivlib.net.

The library will be offering a summer reading program. The summer program will be packed full of classes for both kids and adults. Classes this month include Learn to Podcast, Learn to Crochet, Finance for Kids, Memoir Writing, Interior Design, Tales for Tails and Magazine Writing.
