Letter: Gratitude due National Day of Prayer

Editor, The Friday Flyer:

The 10th annual Canyon Lake National Day of Prayer took place on May 4 and the following pastors led prayers: Pastor Dave Dick, Pastor Pete Van Dyke, and Pastor Derek Singer, of Canyon Lake Community Church, Pastor Paul Krueger, New Hope Community Church, Pastor Thor Ramsay, Center Church, and Pastor Mike Chong Perkinson of Lamb’s Fellowship. Brian Crawford of Chosen Peoples Ministries led the prayer for Israel and the Misha Berra. We thank them for their spiritual leadership.

The Elsinore High Air Force Junior ROTC presented the Color Guard. Mayor Jeremy Smith was the emcee and Jenette Vanderpool led the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilman Mark Terry led the prayer for the city. Darcy Burke prayed for unity.

Michelle Wynn, a veteran, prayed for veterans and their families. Fire Engineer Chico Sanchez prayed for first responders. Mike Shroyer provided the sound and patriotic music. Karen Spiegel, our new County Supervisor, gave the address.

We thank City Manager Nicole Dailey for her support, Chief La Tendresse for the use of the fire station, and Lamb’s Fellowship crew for the chairs.

Our soloist, Aprile McKinnon, sang the National Anthem, God Bless America and Amazing Grace. Harpist Kylene Evans lifted us up with beautiful music. The children of the CLCC Preschool prayed mightily via video under the leadership of Brittany Youngquist, Director.

We would like to thank our sponsors, Elissa and Jeremy Smith, Val and Travis Montgomery, Ted and Nancy Horton, Canyon Lake Insider, Lamb’s Fellowship, and Tulips, Trophies and Treasures. We appreciate the printing of programs by the City of Canyon Lake.  Next year, on the first Thursday of May, we will be back!
