Cooking class makes appealing food boards

A capacity audience at the Canyon Lake Woman’s Club Cooking Class not only learned how to make tasty dishes served beautifully on boards, but was the taste testers as well.

At the Saturday event at the Canyon Lake Senior Center, 48 women and one man took notes as they learned how to make charcuterie, cheese, butter, appetizer and dessert boards.

“The event was the first cooking class for the Canyon Lake Woman’s Club,” Samantha Gorrell said. “It was a complete success.”

The theme was, “Everything on Boards.” Also being taught at the class was how to make whip cream in a jar and flavored Collins butters.

The class included making several compound savory and sweet butters and also demonstrated how to present a butter board, which attendees learned is the newest way to entertain.

“I learned so much,” attendee Renee Griffiths said. “I look forward to replicating the scrumptious and beautiful cheese, butter and dessert boards.”

“Thank you to Rose Marie Hand, Christine Sricker, Barbara Duncan, Addessa Walker and Jane and Jim Lafferty,” Samantha said.

“And, of course, thanks to the Senior Center for making the day such a success.”
