Canyon Lake girls help TCHS win league

Five Canyon Lake girls, including four who were selected All-League, helped the Temescal Canyon High School tennis team to its third straight Ivy League championship after an undefeated season. And where did they go to celebrate? Disneyland, of course.

“They deserved Disneyland,” TCHS Head Coach Laural Hebein, a long-time Canyon Lake resident, said. “It was time to recognize the girls and reward them with the long-awaited and anticipated Disneyland trip. The team had a great time, and they are looking forward to another successful season next year.”

This is the first year that Temescal Canyon played at the Division 1 level, which required more hard work and preparation.

“The girls practiced at 6:00 a.m. to beat the heat, dealt with many weather obstacles this year, and showed up for every match because of our small roster this year,” Laural said. “We are fortunate to have such dedicated players out there for our school, not only on the court, but also in the classroom. Our whole team is on the honor roll.”

For the first time in school history, five Titan players were voted All-League, including Canyon Lakers Brooke Easterly, Paige Williams, Kaylin Kielty and Morgan Wagner. Madison Driggers also made the All-League team.

The team will be losing three seniors including Morgan who will continue playing tennis at Pacific University in Oregon.

“We are so proud of our seniors,” the coach said. “We look forward to hearing about their successes in the future.”

The Temescal Canyon girls’ tennis team, which just concluded its season, is already on the verge of preparing for a new and challenging season this coming school year. Laural and assistant coach Bobby Kielty, the Canyon Lake Tennis Pro, are recruiting additional players for the new season.

“If you are interested in learning how to play or how to play better, please contact Bobby at the POA or me at laural.pulley@leusd.k12.ca.us,” Laural said. “I am so grateful for Bobby and his expertise and dedication to TCHS tennis. The team would not be so great if not for Bobby, he does so much. We would also like to thank the Canyon Lake tennis community for its generosity and all our amazing parents who are a terrific support for our team.”
