Pair win bass tourney under tough conditions

Despite tough conditions, Mark White and Hank Dunbar caught bass weighing a total of 15.58 pounds to win the Bassmasters Club January Tournament Saturday.

The lake conditions, after rains helped the lake rise 1.5 feet last week, were rough. Water temperature was in the low 50 degrees.

“Long-time Bassmaster Mark White fished with Hank Dunbar,” Club President Chuck Moreno said. “Mark has honed his skills and is the guy to beat.”

Second place with 13.38 pounds of total weight caught were Kevin Hugo and Keneti Faagata.

“Both Kevin and Keneti are solid anglers and are almost always on the podium,” Chuck said.

Rounding out the winners in third place, with 11.85 pounds, were Mauro Megalo and Steve Baker, both of whom, Chuck said, are two seasoned anglers.

A total of 25 fishermen in 13 boats participated in the tournament.
