New officers installed at Yacht Club gala event

The Canyon Lake Yacht Club installed its 2023 officers at the club’s annual gala event on Friday with over 50 club members and guests in attendance.

The gala included an evening of a catered dinner and tended bar at the beautifully-decorated waterfront home of Rob Mora and Lainie Cooney.

Rich Moline, the outgoing Yacht Club commodore, released the current board members before installing the new 2023 board.

Ron Wilbur was installed as commodore, Rob Mora as vice commodore, Diann Prince Oltman as yeoman, Greg Doherty as purser, Cindy Cameron as membership chair and Lainie Cooney as events chair.

Ron honored the outgoing board, which included Rich Moline, Dave Dain, Renee Griffiths and Claude Beauchamp by thanking them for their service for the last two years.

In Ron’s comments after the installation, he presented the new board’s goals and events for the new year.

“The new board is planning more events and activities this coming year than ever before,” Ron said.

Some of the more than 30 tentative events include several clinics for boat owners and young people, an opening day of boating season/blessing of the boats, themed cruises, (for St. Patrick‘s Day, Mardi Gras and Octoberfest), an Easter egg hunt on the lake, tie-up swim and music parties, (Margaritaville, Pirates and Wenches, Halloween and Veterans Day), boat parades, picnics and potlucks, two lake clean ups, the annual holiday Parade of Lights, and a revived competition and tour of waterfront home holiday displays.
